What a difference a year makes. Evolution of personal style. I started out this year by getting really into the 50's rockabilly look. Which meant I HAD to have my red lipstick, my cat flick eye make-up and perfect brows. The look was groomed and polished. And drove me insane. I got so sick of kissing people and leaving red marks on them (essentially penny-branding them), re applying lipstick after lipstick, going through red lipsticks like there was no tommorow and spending ages trying to get the flicks perfectly symmetrical.
So after being like that for ages it was only right that I moved on.....
Experimented with different looks including the porn make-up look. Which I consider to be make-up on the top and bottom. As I flirted with which look I preferred. The glamour of lipstick or the rock of the eye make-up!
Eventually I am now rocking this : The 70's inspired punk meets 90's grunge.
It's heavy on the black eyeshadow. Although this is not actually black. It's a petrol blue and dark brown mixed from NARS with some HEAVY black eyeliner from Benefit cosmetics. I've noticed that it's changing my face shape. Now I have lost some serious weight recently. But the fringe, the eye make-up and the weight loss has made my face kinda strange looking. For one the intense eye make-up makes my eyes pop out a lot more! which i'm not sure I needed given that everyone in my family has massively expressive huge eyes anyway!
The hair is worn shaggy instead of groomed and in curls and ponytails. I've been letting it hang as it dries. Wherever it likes. It has no volume of its own accord so I have found that if i put some bits up in buns while it dries, it dries curly. Love.
The jewelry is heavy as well. My clothes have not changed too much. But I am now wearing heavy necklaces, earrings and rings together. Everything ghetto gold and looking like its hurting me to wear. The more noise the jewelry makes the better as well. I will be starting to stock pile gold bangles on my wrists soon too. I am big into the cross as a shape at the minute as well. which you can see by my necklace and ring. Odd but true!
The lips are natural. It's too much with the intense eye make-up to wear lipstick as well. Which is great. I am so happy to be having a break from lipstick. I was so sick of it getting all over everything. So it's nice to be able to drink, eat, kiss and other things without covering everything in 'stick.
So who knows what I will be wearing this time next year? hhhmmmm, it might be nice to try 60's natural style. but somehow I don't think thats going to happen! I don't do the natural look at all....just rock and rockabilly!
